The challenge
A medical laboratory needed one system for the whole sample cycle: reception, testing, result approval, billing and stock. Its price list holds more than sixteen hundred tests, many of them reference tests sent out to other labs.
The solution
- The full test catalogue loaded into Vitrio: 1,674 tests and 1,791 components, with Arabic names, units and reference ranges.
- Every LOINC code checked with its check digit before saving; codes that failed were left out.
- Result reports are issued as PDFs locked with the last four digits of the patient's ID, with a cap on attempts to open the link.
- Stock alerts at reorder level and near expiry, plus an opening count of lab supplies.
The result
The lab runs on one platform from sample reception to the result reaching the patient, with a catalogue of 1,674 tests, 793 reference ranges and 8 analysers registered. The lab director reviews and approves the ranges against each analyser's inserts.
